Adoption Application

Submitting an application does not guarantee approval for adoption.

We strive to respond within 3 business days, however, are not able to contact all potential adopters immediately.  We are a small, family-owned rescue with fosters that volunteer their time outside of their normal work/family schedules.

If you do not hear from CPAH within 3 business days, we ask for your patience and understand as the dog you are interested in may be adopted already or we have already approved another potential adopter.

CPAH's mission is to better the lives of animals in our community and our adoption process ensures that our pets find the right homes and achieve that mission.  We take great care and pride when finding the right human for the pet and vice versa rather than just placing one of our animals quickly into a home.  Just a few simple policies that we follow when looking at potential adopters:

  • All potential adopters must agree to a home visit.  This is to ensure that our pets are being adopted into safe homes.
  • All potential adopters must agree to a veterinary check if they currently have or previously had any pets to ensure they were kept current on all shots and on heartworm prevention.
  • Adopting a pet is a meeting of the heart as well as of the mind. It is a lifetime commitment to an pet that will be your loving companion and best friend. If a potential adopter has given away, returned, or euthanized an animal for an insufficient reason, it is unlikely that we will approve the application.
  • Adopted dogs must be kept indoors as they become part of your family.  Dogs left outside could become lonely, bored and/or destructive.
  • We reserve the right to randomly perform post-adoption visits.  While not common, CPAH needs to ensure the safety of our adopted animals which decreases the likelihood of their return.
  • Potential adopters with children 9 and younger will be given a more scrutinized application review since most dog bites occur in children of those ages and the potential for the dog to get hurt increases.
  • We will not adopt to anyone under the age of 21.
  • Once an adoption occurs, you become part of the CPAH family.  We will check in to see how things are going, keep you informed on upcoming events, news that could impact your new family member, and if you ever need anything, we are here to help in any way.
  • We ask each adopter for a donation in order to defray the cost of veterinarian fees, supplies, and food.

Completing an application does not guarantee an adoption. If you are interested in fostering, please complete the Foster Application or email us at rescue@crossedpawsanimalhaven.org for additional information.

By submitting an application, you are agreeing to the terms above for a home visit and vet check prior to adoption approval.

We respect your privacy and keep all applications confidential and never sell any names.

CPAH does not typically adopt out of our immediate area or out of state.  Please be aware of this before submitting an application.
